  7. TRANSCAN is a fully configurable, realtime data interface to the ORACLE
  8. database, providing data interchange between text-based transaction files
  9. and/or select collection devices and the ORACLE database. TRANSCAN acts as a
  10. background data monitor, polling text files for incoming transactions, and
  11. applying user-defined SQL logic to interact with the database
  12.  
  13. TRANSCAN supports user-defined, transaction-specific SQL logic, allowing for
  14. the selective application of SQL statements, and allows specification of
  15. sources, fieldnames, offsets and defaults, validation criteria, polling and
  16. post-process intervals, a database table for auto-insertion of matching column
  17. to fieldnames, a database table for serial number derivation and valid serial
  18. number ranges, and a variety of reserved fieldnames, including serial numbers
  19. and various date and timestamp formats
  20.  
  21. TRANSCAN also performs automatic transaction serialization, prior and
  22. in-process data and table validation, and error detection/circumvention.
  23. Processed transactions and errors may be logged to separate runtime log files,
  24. with fully documented session, transaction, and date and time information, as
  25. well as applicable transaction and/or ORACLE error messages.
